Before the half term break, our Year 11 Japanese language learner, Hannah, attended the Japan Day at UCLan as part of the school's careers enrichment programme.

The university hosted its 8th Japan Day which gave Hannah the opportunity to attend numerous workshops as well as network with students and lecturers.

The languages workshop, led by the Chief Language Adviser of the Japan Foundation, provided valuable experience in talking to native speakers to polish her technique.  Hannah was also able to soak up the culture by having a go at Furoshiki wrapping, calligraphy and some fun language games.

Mrs Small, who volunteers her time to support our pupil, commented, "Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to visit the event with Hannah, I was very impressed by her great attitude and enjoyed watching her doing all the activities. She did extremely well for everything!  I’m sure she’s got more confident in her Japanese after the workshop. We picked up some information for learning materials as well.”

Hannah intends to either teach English in Japan or become a translator for that language.
