World Book Day took place on Thursday, 7 March.  Amongst the activities to celebrate the event, staff shared their own reading experiences during lessons, there was a Reading Plus challenge, and a quiz to bring a bit of fun to the day.

For this year's quiz, conjured up by Mrs Elliott, pupils had to 'Match the Shelfie with the Selfie'. Pupils were given an entry sheet and using their detective skills and knowledge of their teachers, their task was to match the 'shelfie' picture to the correct 'selfie'. Can you guess whose shelves these belong to? (answers below)

We had over 200 entries however only eight were correct.   The names were all placed in a hat and the following winner plus four runners-up were chosen.

Winner of the £10 Amazon voucher was Ella G (Year 10/R3)
Runners up - Toby H (Year 9/C5), Niamh Park (Year 10/C3), Tasha C (Year 10/C3) and Josh B (Year 9/D3) who get a mini Easter egg.

Our next competition was to see who, across World Book Week, managed to complete the most lessons on Reading Plus.  For context, pupils should be aiming for five lessons a week, although realistically are hitting 3-4 during their hour reading lesson in school.

The winner, with a very impressive ten lessons, was Junaid Q (Year 9/R1) who wins a £20 Amazon voucher.

The three runners-up achieving six lessons each were Imogen C (Year 7/D2), Theo R (Year 7/D4) and Ruby S (Year 9/ R2) who all win a  mini Easter egg.

If these pupils haven't yet collected their prizes, please see Mrs Elliott.
