A touch of Hollywood arrived at school on Friday thanks to the good fortune of one of our Learning Support Assistants, Mrs Simpson, who won a red carpet in a local competition.
Mrs Simpson had recently purchased a carpet for her home from Gainsborough Carpets when she spotted an email inviting customers to enter a prize draw to win a red carpet for a school. She entered on behalf of our school and, after the competition closing date passed, assumed she had been unsuccessful.
To her surprise, she later received a phone call confirming that she had been selected as the winner!
Although the timing meant that the prize arrived just after our Prom had taken place the previous evening, the red carpet is sure to play a starring role at many future events. It will be rolled out for next year's Prom, as well as our Duke of Edinburgh Awards Evening and other presentation and celebration events throughout the school year.
To mark its arrival, Mrs Simpson took part in a special red-carpet photoshoot in one of the school corridors, giving us a glimpse of how glamorous future events are set to be.
We would like to extend our thanks to Mrs Simpson for taking the initiative to enter the competition and for securing such a fantastic prize for the school which will add a little extra sparkle to our celebrations!
