Priory pupils helped to ensure Penwortham Live was rocking!

The live music festival, organised by South Ribble Council, took place in May and featured performances across multiple venues, celebrating local talent.

Year 8 Morgan is a regular performer at events and sang and played his guitar in a 45-minute section.

“I have played at Longton and Chorley Live so I am used to playing in front of an audience. I play the Stone Roses and Gerry Cinnamon, music like that.

“I have been playing the guitar since I was five and have had music lessons with KTB Music for around two years. I would like to build a career on it. I got into performing through Open Mic nights. My friends think it’s pretty cool.”

Year 9 Imogen’s performance was one-time only.

She said: “I have had singing lessons since Christmas and wanted to perform but I won’t do it again. I sung ‘Take Me Out’ and four other songs.

“While I enjoy singing, I want to play bass and I would prefer to be more in the background. I am part of ‘The Rock Project’ out of school.”

Year 9 Erin is also part of the ‘The Rock Project.’ “I sang with the group at Penwortham Live. I enjoy performing so it was good. I do have lessons and I would like to take my singing further.”

Year 8 Ruby took to the stage and performed ‘Hopelessly devoted to you.’ “I have been having singing lessons for a while and have performed in front of an audience a couple of times. I am part of the Pauline Quirk Academy.”
