Year 9 Prove #TheseGirlsCan

A group of Year 9 girls had a fantastic sports experience at West View Leisure Centre last Friday when they attended South Ribble School Games’ ‘This Girl Can’ event.

The event aims to empower girls to confidently stay active and encourages them to take part in a variety of activities such as rock climbing, roller-skating, spinning and padel. 

PE Teacher, Miss Derbyshire, who accompanied the girls along with Miss Beesley, said, “They all got fully involved with all activities and it was great to see them step out of their comfort zones and try new things. 

“They all started off quite nervous and quiet but it ended in them feeling empowered and confident - so all in all a fantastic day!

“The girls were a credit to themselves and the school”
