Assistant Head of Maths Mr Sneddon, along with the Maths Department, are running a competition asking pupils to say what they particularly enjoy about their subject.

Pupils were tasked with completing the following sentence, "I love Maths because..." and qualifying responses were rewarded with an I love Maths badge.

Here's why Year 8 Reese and Maya, and Year 10 Emma love Maths:

Emma...

because life is beautiful and good but it wouldn't be complete without maths. I love maths because it goes with everything. Just think about it. If there were no maths, then where would we live? Because someone had to design our houses too. And in order for a house to come together, you need maths because you have to calculate to the millimetre. But even the simplest example is that if we couldn't count (which requires math, right?) how would we want to go to a shop and pay for the products we want to buy. These were just two examples, but there could be thousands of issues if we didn't have maths in our lives. I love maths because it's logical. All equations and problems can be explained after you solve them.

Reese...

because it helps me with my career.

Maya...

because it helps you understand other subjects too.

Pupils that want to claim an 'I love Maths' badge should simply click the link below to access the online form and write Mr Sneddon a few sentences or paragraphs explaining why they love maths. The best responses from each year group will be selected and also featured here in our article.
