At the end of the Spring term, Year 8 pupils were challenged to produce a piece of research explaining how their local area was affected by World War 1.  In return for their efforts, they were to be awarded a much sought-after History pin badge.

In Tuesday's year group assembly, their proud History teacher Miss Ackers, who led the competition, was pleased to hand out their rewards.

Miss Ackers said, "The students were set a task of finding information out about the local area and its relation to the First World War.

"One student, Freya, chose to map out where the fallen WW1 soldiers lived in her parish after finding a list of their names in her local church.  She even added the dates, and which battle they died in. We also had students researching the Preston Pals, Preston's role in the Battle of the Somme and Preston Railway Station.

"I am so proud of how seriously they took the competition and pleased to give out so many badges!"

Work is shown below from Junaid Q, Dev G and Freya Y.

Well done also to Jessica D, Evie C, Charlie McC, Ezra H, Harry B and Charlie W.  In additional Anees U-R was awarded a certificate for his recent exceptional work in History lessons.
