Last week, Priory pupils showed off their mathematical skills at a LUSoM's (Lancashire University School of Maths) inaugural schools challenge at Newman College.

On Thursday, Maths teacher, Mr Raynor accompanied the team of Year 7 & 8s, whilst on Friday it was Head of Maths, Mr Kenrick's turn with his team of Year 9 & 10.

Year 7s Anna and Oliver, along with Year 8s Jake and Meena, were selected to represent Priory. Mr Raynor said,  "The younger pupils had a very enjoyable and rewarding opportunity and worked on a range of problems and puzzles. It was a great experience for them to compete as pairings and as a team against the clock."

"We had to complete a range of different puzzles and maths challenges," said Oliver. "It was really tough but we came in the top ten."

Meanwhile on Friday, the Year 9 & 10 team pitted their wits against another eight local schools, and came out top! They returned to Priory with top of the range scientific calculators and Amazon vouchers. Mr Kenrick said, "Some of the winning team are now considering applying to LUSoM to study subjects such as Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science."

Well done -
Year 7 & 8 Team: Oliver L, Anna H, Menna Y and Jake L
