Mrs Robinson-Ali is back from maternity leave with a new exciting role as Assistant Curriculum Leader for English.

Mrs Robinson-Ali has been at Priory for two years before she went on maternity leave a year ago. She now has a daughter Hannah and said: "The last 12 months have been the most remarkable of my life so far. Becoming a mum has been the most joyous, wonderful and tiring experience. I wouldn't change a second of it.”

She is now back on duty at Priory and ready to start her new position within school.

“I'm delighted to be returning to a new role, I love the English department at Priory and I'm so thrilled that I will be working alongside Mrs Gidden to continue to make English at Priory the most captivating and inspiring it can possibly be. I have really missed the pupils and can't wait to see them all.

“When I started at Priory, the English department was already an amazing place to be for both staff and pupils because every teacher in the department has a passion for their subject. It's now evolved to have even more of a buzz about it.

“We have invested in Accelerated Reader and Bedrock Vocabulary, so we are enhancing our methods of teaching and we are harnessing a real love of language with the pupils because of that.

“We have changed our GCSE exam board to AQA with huge success based on the results last summer and most of us teachers are now examiners, so we know it all inside out.

“If you visit the English department at break or lunchtime you'll find it full of pupils either in the library or at film club - it's the place to be.”

Head of English Mrs Gidden said: “Mrs Robinson-Ali and I have worked together for a little shy of three years. I could tell she was ambitious when we met and when Mr Eastham announced they'd be appointing Assistant Curriculum Leaders for the larger, core faculties, Mrs Robinson-Ali's application was first in even though she was on maternity leave, much to my delight.

“Since the start, we've always been on the same page in terms of our vision for the department and we're a great team leading a great team so it really feels like the only way is up for the department with Mrs Robinson-Ali by my side. We're both examiners and we get a lot of our know how from the work we do with the board and what's key is that Mrs Robinson-Ali has hugely high aspirations for every child.

“We're so lucky to have her in a leadership role; I couldn't wish for a better second-in-command. She'll be taking over the role of Lead for Key Stage 3 English and she's already hit the ground running despite the school being closed. There's lots of exciting schemes in the pipeline.”

Mrs Robinson-Ali has inherited:

7E2 & 7W2 From Mrs Isherwood who's staying at Priory but has reduced her hours.
8W2 & 9EW6 From Mr Caddle who has left Priory for pastures new.
10EW6 From Mrs Gidden who was overseeing the group in her absence as a GCSE class.

Students in any of these classes should direct their work/questions and queries to Mrs Robinson-Ali's email for the duration of the school closure. e.robinson@priory.lancs.sch.uk
