We’re proud to share the fantastic achievements of Year 11, Aaron, one of our keen young golfers, who continues to make impressive strides in the sport.

Aaron is a dedicated member of Shaw Hill Golf Club in Chorley, where his passion and talent have seen him progress to competing in the senior men's competitions.

Earlier this year, Aaron clinched victory in one of the men’s events, earning himself a place in the club’s prestigious Masters competition. This end-of-season tournament brings together all the year’s winners, and he held his own, finishing 12th out of a competitive field of 65 players.

Over the summer, Aaron was selected to take part in the Lancashire Academy Golfing Programme, a fantastic opportunity that gave him access to coaching from PGA professionals. He has already begun applying the skills and techniques learned through the programme to his game, showing noticeable improvements in both confidence and performance.

2025 also marks a special milestone for Shaw Hill Golf Club as they celebrate their centenary. To commemorate the occasion, former member and ex-professional golfer Nick Doherty - now a leading presenter for Sky Sports - returned to host a golfing masterclass.  Aaron was honoured to be invited to the session, where he not only picked up valuable tips and tricks from the pro but also won the “Nearest Pin” challenge, showcasing his precision and skill.

Looking ahead, Aaron plans to continue pursuing his love of golf as he transitions to college. He is currently exploring the Golfing and Greenkeeping course at Myerscough College, which will allow him to develop both his playing ability and his understanding of the sport’s environmental aspects.
