Feathered Guests Prepare for Their Next Journey
9 July 2025
Before the summer term comes to an end, we thought we would update you on our beloved duck family.
The mother duck and her remaining ducklings continue to capture our smiles and are growing stronger each day, thanks to the care of our staff and the peaceful sanctuary they've found here in our Mediterranean Garden.
Though we sadly lost three ducklings, the resilience of the rest of the brood has been remarkable. Head of English, Ms Beswick, has become a familiar morning presence by the pond, feeding and chatting with the ducks before lessons begin.
Meanwhile, our gardener Mr Farron has happily become their guide, taking them on early morning walks through the corridors to prepare them for their upcoming relocation - much to the amusement of staff and pupils! Next week, he will accompany them to their new home at the Ribble estuary, where they’ll continue their journey in the wild.
We’ll miss our feathered visitors dearly. Safe travels, little ones!
