Troy got into curling ‘for something to do’ in summer 2020 and found he excelled at it. He is part of Team Waring who entered the English Curling Association (ECA) England Junior Curling Championship 2024 over Easter at the Flower Ball in Garstang.

“My position is first where I throw the first stone and sweep the rest of them,” said Troy.

Team Waring played six matches over four days, winning them all to be crowned the undefeated UK British Junior Champions.

The team will now go on to the World Junior B Championships as the England Junior Curling Representatives in December in Finland. If they win they will qualify for the World Junior A Championships in 2025.

“It’s a very technical game,” said Troy. “I like it as it keeps me active.

“It is a great achievement for our team to go to the World Championships, it’s a chance to visit Finland too as I have never been before.

“It is a hobby and just something I enjoy so I am not sure how far I want to go with my curling.  I also enjoy drama at school but when I leave Priory I want to go into engineering.”

The team of four is currently raising funds to finance their participation in December’s Championships in Finland to cover kit, travel and accommodation costs.  If you’d like to support them, any help would be appreciated.
