Humanities get work rewarded with new postcard
10 February 2022
There will be new Humanities rewards postcards sent out next term!
The Humanities department ran a competition for pupils to design the postcards, which will be sent home to parents/carers of those who have worked hard in one of the subject areas.
The postcard design had to include History, Geography and Religious Education and the winner was Year 7 Freya with Jessica the runner-up, with both postcards now printed using their artwork.
Freya said: “It took me around two nights to design, using symbols in the main picture and key words from each subject around the edge of the postcard. I am happy to have won.”
Jessica said: “It took me around a week to design. I used a Roman helmet and spear for History, a cross for Christianity and a star and crescent for Islam and a map for geography.”
Mr Metcalfe said: "With the support of the whole Humanities Faculty, this was a really successful competition. Students were tasked to design a postcard that encompassed all of the three subject disciplines of Geography, History and RE in one image. There were many brilliant entries and we would like to thank all those students to submitted designs. The ultimate winners were chosen by my team, and well deserved winners they were. It will be great for students to see their artwork being shared with other students and parents when praise postcards are sent home"
