Meet the teacher - Miss Smethurst

Miss Smethurst joined the English department last September and has brought a wealth of experience. 

Head of English Mrs Gidden said: “We are absolutely honoured to have Miss Smethurst here. 

“She is passionate about English, particularly about Year 7, and has already revolutionised how we track our interventions in school. 

“She has a wealth of experience, having taught in Spain, with Mrs Webster at Hodgson Academy and most recently at Broughton High School in Preston. 

“She came back from maternity leave early to help our department and is always cheerful and happy!” 

Miss Smethurst said: “I studied drama at Northumberland University and followed the Graduate Teachers Program through Edge Hill and St Michael’s in Chorley, starting my teaching career in drama before I became an English teacher and drama teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic High School”

“I worked abroad and came back to Preston to be close to my family. It’s great to work with Mrs Webster again too!

“Priory has such a community feel about it and I love working here."
